iDEAL to phase into Wero starting in 2026

Wero Launch Marks the End of the iDEAL and in3 Partnership

Amsterdam, 31 July 2025 – The partnership between iDEAL and in3 will be gradually phased out over the course of 2025. This decision is linked to the launch of Wero, the new European payment solution that will eventually replace iDEAL. As Wero’s initial development phase does not support Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solutions, the joint proposition ‘iDEAL in3’ will be wound down in a controlled manner.

Final step in iDEAL migration: action required by merchants

AMSTERDAM, 28 February 2025 – The migration to the new iDEAL was successfully completed last year. The final step requires merchants to remove their bank selection list by 31 March 2025, replacing it with an iDEAL button linking to the iDEAL Payment Page. From 1 April 2025, Currence iDEAL will monitor compliance and take action if necessary.

iDEAL Processes Record 56 Million Transactions During Black Friday Week

AMSTERDAM, 3 December 2024 – Although Black Friday was, for the first time since 2016, not the busiest day of the year, iDEAL processed a record number of transactions during the entire Black Friday Week, including Cyber Monday: 56.82 million. This represents a growth of 12.31% compared to 2023.

First Decrease in iDEAL Transactions on Black Friday Since 2016

AMSTERDAM, 30 November 2024 – For the first time since 2016, iDEAL has reported a decline in transactions on Black Friday. On Friday, 29 November, 5.82 million transactions were processed, marking a decrease of 18.4% compared to the 7.13 million transactions recorded on Black Friday 2023. However, Black Friday Week as a whole has seen significant growth in 2024, with an 18.2% increase so far.

50,000 Registrations for iDEAL Consumer Profiles

Dutch People Want to Pay Faster and More Securely

AMSTERDAM, 7 June 2024 – Since the launch of consumer profiles at iDEAL, 50,000 Dutch people have already created a profile. With such a profile, it is possible to make online purchases faster and more securely. The new feature, which has been offered by iDEAL since 15 April and can be created via the user's own banking app, will also be proactively offered by banks later this year. iDEAL describes the launch period as successful.

iDEAL Refreshed: Profile Creation and Speedy Checkout 

Amsterdam, 15 April 2024 – From today, consumers can for the first time create an account with iDEAL. This account enables quicker and more secure completion of online purchases. It also offers benefits for online retailers in the form of improved conversions and increased customer satisfaction. Annually, 1.3 billion transactions are processed through iDEAL, accounting for 73% of all Dutch online purchases.

iDEAL Integrates Spread Payments with iDEAL in3

Amsterdam, 4 April 2024 – Payment solution iDEAL now also offers iDEAL in3, a payment option that allows consumers to spread the cost of online purchases over three instalments. The revenue model of iDEAL in3 is based on a fixed fee per transaction rather than aiming for the highest possible percentage of non-paying customers.

EDE, 19 December 2023 - The latest data from the Thuiswinkel Markt Monitor for the third quarter of 2023 are in, and the results are noteworthy. We've witnessed a sustained growth in online consumer spending, with a notable increase in the travel sector and a strengthened preference for iDEAL as a payment method. This year, Dutch consumers have spent more online than ever before, with iDEAL's share in online transactions rising from 69% in Q3 2022 to 73% in Q3 2023.

iDEAL records record number of online payments Black Friday

Discount week continues with 5.12 million online transactions on Cyber Monday

AMSTERDAM, 28 November 2023 - Payment service iDEAL recorded a record number of transactions for the eighth year in a row on Black Friday, the Friday after Thanksgiving when consumers take advantage of high discounts. iDEAL processed 7.13 million online transactions on Friday 24 November with over 333 transactions per second at the peak.
