The use of a business bank account minimizes the risk for consumers. This consumer protection is necessary for the following reasons:
* iDEAL is a guaranteed advance payment to the webshop (with subsequent delivery).

Further legal obligations for webshops can be found on the website of the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). This page is only available in Dutch.
Can I use the iDEAL payment to have my customers sign an eMandate?
An iDEAL payment is executed via a SEPA Credit Transfer. One of it characteristics of this payment instrument is that every payment must be authorized by the consumer individually. It is not possible to perform multiple, repeated payments with one iDEAL transaction.
Alternatively, you can use the European Direct Debit for repeated payments. In accordance with the European regulations only a written authorization or an eMandate (such as Incassomachtigen) are legitimate mandates to do Direct Debits. Once you have obtained a mandate, the Direct Debits are initiated by you, as the payee without prior activity of the payer. To protect the payer, the payment is not guaranteed. He or she has the right, by law, to reverse the payment within 8 weeks.

An eWallet Provider is an Acquirer or CPSP if it disburses iDEAL payments to companies. During these iDEAL transactions, the eWallet Provider does not show the loading of the wallet to the customer (paying consumer). In this process, the payer only sees a regular iDEAL payment. The payer is not authorizing the second transaction, because this is automatically executed by the eWallet Provider.
In this case, the payer only has a purchase agreement with the company where he ordered a product or service. For this purchase, there is no relationship with the eWallet provider.
The eWallet Provider is an acceptant if an eWallet Provider only uses iDEAL for loading the wallet and the payer uses the wallet to make purchases.
