Emails from iDEAL

How to Recognise a Genuine Message from Us

At iDEAL, we prioritise your online security. Unfortunately, fraudsters sometimes misuse our name in phishing emails. To help you stay safe, we explain here how to recognise a genuine email from iDEAL and what to do if you are unsure.

How to Recognise a Genuine Email from iDEAL

Emails from iDEAL are always sent from official domains. A legitimate email from iDEAL:

  • Always comes from a sender ending in @ideal.nl or another official iDEAL domain.
  • Never contains links directing you to a page asking for your bank login details.
  • Never asks for personal information such as passwords or PIN codes.
  • Only includes links to the official iDEAL website (www.ideal.nl).
  • Has a clear and professional layout with no spelling or grammatical errors.

What Types of Emails Do We Send?

iDEAL only sends emails in the following situations:

  • Informational emails about updates or improvements to the iDEAL payment method.
  • Confirmations of registrations or changes to your iDEAL settings (via your bank).
  • Service messages regarding the availability of our services.

We never send emails asking you to take immediate action via a payment link or threatening consequences.

Not Sure If an Email Is Genuine?

If you are unsure whether an email is genuinely from iDEAL, follow these steps:

  1. Check the sender’s email address – If it looks unusual or unfamiliar, it is likely phishing.
  2. Hover over links (without clicking) – If the URL looks suspicious or different from iDEAL’s official website, do not click!
  3. Compare the content with this page – If the tone or request seems suspicious, do not trust it.

If in doubt, you can always verify by visiting iDEAL’s official website: www.ideal.nl.

What to Do If You Receive a Phishing Email

Have you received a suspicious email pretending to be from iDEAL? Please forward it to phishing@ideal.nl and then delete it from your inbox. Do not click on any links or open attachments.
